Objective
The purpose of the project is to obtain and to have tested by users low-carbon, free- cutting steels with a high content of sulphur and other elements such as Pb, Ti, Te, Se and Bi, added to improve machinability. 145 x 145 mm billets will be produced by continuous casting and rolled crude without intermediate processing. For the purposes of this research, production and casting parameters will have to be worked out with a view to obtaining a product without serious surface defects, satisfying the user and having a favourable cost price.
