Objective

To develop plasma coatings of selected components of slide gate valves to equalise and improve the wear behaviour of components and extend the overall life of slide gate valve assemblies. Coating materials to be studied include Al203, Cr203, Zr02 and spinel (MgO: Al203). Factors influencing coating adhesion, hot corrosion and hot erosion will be studied, followed by practical trials of plasma coated assemblies.
