Objectif The aim of this project is a further optimisation of electric arc furnace steel-making to achieve additional economies of energy. Such an optimisation requires a precise knowledge of the mass and energy transfer in the furnace. First, a thermodynamic and metallurgical model will be developed for a furnace as a function of the working conditions. The model will then be perfected using a pilot furnace of 6 tonnes and then on an industrial furnace with the aim of characterising the optimal working conditions to improve performance and reduce energy consumption.
