Wear in porous plugs in combined-blowing converters

Objective

In view of the fact that porous plugs are extremely vulnerable points in a converter, owing to the risks of leakage, it is absolutely essential to evaluate their wear on a constant basis. In this project, three electrodes with well-known but different properties will be inserted into the refractories and the variations in their erosion - and therefore also in that of the refractories themselves - will be determined with the aid of an appropriate connection system. Preliminary tests will be conducted for the purpose of selecting the materials to be used. A prototype will then be built, and - with the aid of a microcomputer - a programme will be drawn up and tested in real-service conditions on an industrial converter.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal
