Objective
This project will improve the performance of secondary steelmaking vessels, and develop techniques of process modelling, measurement and control. Bubbling and vacuum techniques will be employed for the production of super-clean steels. Convection and stirring parameters will be investigated to improve understanding of homogenization, and the effects of convection and bubble nucleation on inclusion removal will be studied. Control of slag, vacuum and temperature parameters will be improved. Research work will be carried out in the plant.
