HOT-ROLLED CARBON STEEL STRIPS.

Objective

HOT STRIP MADE FROM NON-ALLOYED PERLITIC STEELS IS USED MAINLY AS MATERIAL FOR COLD STRIP. THE SOFT-ANNEALED COLD STRIP IS THEN COLD-WORKED TO PRODUCE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS WHICH ARE SUBSEQUENTLY HARDENED. THESE STEELS HAVE A NUMBER OF CONTACT POINTS FOR CONTROLLING THE STRUCTURE AND THUS MECHANICAL PROPERTIES WHICH HAVE BEEN RELATIVELY UNDERUSED IN THE PAST IN THE PRODUCTION OF HOT STRIP. IT IS, THEREFORE, CONCEIVABLE THAT VARIOUS LEVELS OF STRENGTH COULD BE ACHIEVED IN THE BROAD RANGE BETWEEN 650 AND 1100 N/MM TO THE POWER OF 2 BY MEANS OF CONTROLLING THE WORKING AND COOLING CONDITIONS IN THE STRIP MILL.

THE PROJECT ENVISAGES THE EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF WORKING AND COOLING CONDITIONS AS A FUNCTION OF THE CONDITIONS IN THE HOT STRIP MILL USING THE HOT WORKING SIMULATION TESTS AND INDICATING WAYS IN WHICH DEFINED LEVELS OF STRENGTH CAN BE PRODUCED BY MEANS OF CONTROLLED STRUCTURES.

THE VARIOUS CATEGORIES OF HOT STRIP WILL BE EXAMINED FOR THEIR COLD ROLLABILITY ACCORDING TO STRENGTH LEVEL. SUBSEQUENTLY, LABORATORY TESTS WILL DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF HOT STRIP STRUCTURES ON THE COLD WORKABILITY OF SOFT-ANNEALED COLD STRIP. IT IS HOPED TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING TECHNICAL PROGRESS AS A RESULT OF THE TEST :

(A) IMPROVED PRODUCTION OF HOT STRIP FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF FURTHER WORKING,
(B) THE STANDARDIZATION OF STRUCTURES WITH GIVEN COMBINATIONS OF STRENGTH AND DUTILITY WHICH WILL PROVIDE IMPROVED COLD WORKABILITY AFTER SOFT ANNEALING.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
