Objective
It is extremely important to achieve the best possible width precision in hot-rolled strip in order to meet users' demands. In this project, the influence of rolling-mill operating parameters on the widths of finished products will be studied. A model will be developed on a roughing mill on the basis of a quantitative study of the stretching and "dog-bone" phenomena. A control model will likewise be developed and tested on a finishing mill in order to study the influence of tension on strip width.
