Objective
In this research, it is proposed to investigate the most practicable and accurate methods of measuring the precise position of the strip edges stand of the mill, building on existing experience in the use of diode array cameras, laser systems and video recording techniques. The influence of guide setting, roll wear and thermal effects, and traverse temperatures variation across the strip on the tracking and centralisation will be evaluated to determine the potential for precise control.
