Objective

The aim of this project is to complete understanding of the straightening process in two stages:
a) to establish a detailed understanding of the fundamental phenomena involved in the straightness, the levels of residual stresses and the cross-section geometry of the various types of rail;
b) to optimize parameters for roll straightener setup with the same performance criteria. An operator's guide for initial adjustment of roll straighteners shall be drafted.
