Objective
This project is aimed at determining the achievable final properties when producing thin strip of differing thicknesses (3 mm, 5-20 mm and 10 mm). Investigations will also be carried out into ways in which the structure can be influenced by the control of solidification processes and by hot and cold rolling with final heat treatment. Examination will be made of means by which desired final properties may be obtained under conditions of near-net-shape casting for various steels.
