Objective This project is intended to examine metallurgical aspects of thin slab rolling with application to direct hot rolling, thus avoiding reheating and roughing. The new route will result in less micro-segregation and a new distribution of elements which will be kept in solution, requiring optimisation of steel chemistry and rolling schedules.
