Automatic evaluation of X-ray photographs

Objective

In this joint research project, INSA, IRSID, BAM and BFI propose to improve and compare the methods of real-time radiography and automatic evaluation of X-ray photographs. The advantage of such systems is objective and reproducible location of defects and their classification without the limitations of human judgement in interpreting X-ray photographs. The products to be inspected would be welds of thicknesses up to 60 mm and eventually hot and cold rolled plate (thickness range 0.2 mm to 3 mm) from various sources. The work, which will be coordinated among the four applicants, will be divided up as follows: - INSA will implement and test software with processing on an existing system; - IRSID will mainly carry out comparative tests with other means of non-destructive testing; - BAM will develop evaluation of the characteristic parameters of imaging devices; - BFI will work out the image processing algorithms.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
