Objective
The aim of their research is to assess the possibilities offered by different methods for measuring certain physical characteristics that accompany transformation (changes in magnetic condition and density) for the purposes of the on-line determination of the corresponding metallurgical properties. The research must ascertain for each of the methods selected, the range of use, operating constraints and data likely to be provided on the production line for each of the two parameters. The research will involve, for each of the methods studied (eddy currents and X-ray or gamma-ray absorption), a laboratory qualification phase using various steel grades, followed by an industrial testing phase.
