Exploitable results

Research was carried out into the development of operating systems for accurate X-ray fluorescence (XRD) analysis of major elements and minor elements in ferroalloys. Samples were prepared following 3 different procedures: obtention of metal samples by remelting in an induction furnace, palletization by direct powder compaction and preparation of beads from preoxidized materials. Calibration was made from samples prepared with 1 or 2 commercial ferroalloys, previously analyzed using standard wet way methods. Tests for precision and reproductiveness were conducted for each system of sample preparation and for each type of studied ferroalloys. The accuracy of the methods developed was tested by the analysis of several reference materials. Finally, a statistical comparative study was conducted on the results obtained for a commercial ferroalloy of each type using different analytical techniques and methodologies.
