Objective

The aim of the research is to develop a descriptive methodology for the state of surfaces which will permit currently available imprecise methods to be replaced by better defined and measured parameters. This should lead to quantification of these parameters taking into account the evolution in heat treatment after rolling and descaling. The research will investigate macroscopic and microscopic factors and correlate them with the behaviour of stainless steel wire rod.
