Objective This project is intended to develop methods of predicting brittle failure initiation in the weld HAZ. The first phase deals with fracture initiation, the second with simulated HAZ testing and finally with testing of conventionally welded thick plates. This project continues and extends work carried out under two previous ECSC projects.
