Objetivo

The mechanisms controlling corrosion fatigue in hydrogen containing environments will be investigated, concentrating on the susceptibility of HAZ of welded high strength steels. It is intended to provide data on fatigue crack growth rates for small-scale specimens in a variety of environments and to model the life prediction of joints constructed using these steels. Crack growth, microstructure and environment effects shall be correlated.
