Development and verification of a new mathematical model of hydrogen solubility and permeation in structural steels

Objective

The project is aimed at developing a new mathematical model to describe the solubility of hydrogen in ferritic steel structures. The predictions from the model will be calibrated and then compared with solubility/diffusion results from a wide range of samples of pure iron, iron alloys and steels which have been heat treated to give a wide range of structures. Predictions from the model will also be compared with the results of standard assessment procedures.
