Finishing treatments for coated products

Objective

The severity of the corrosion conditions to which motor-vehicle bodies are subjected is leading to the ever-increasing use of coated products. These coatings are obtained by dipping (the galvanizing, Galfan and Aluzinc processes) or electro deposition (Zn, ZnNi, ZnFe and Zincrox). Although it has been established that pre-deformation is unimportant for the formation of the phosphate layers in the case of bare sheets, it may well not be so for coated products as a result of differences in intrinsic ductility. The aim of this research is to study the influence of different types of deformation, namely expansion and contraction, in the case of deformation without contact with the tool. In order to examine the influence of tool contact with the deformed surface, the aim is to use a special tool incorporation a lining: this tool was developed earlier in the context of a research project aimed at studying the problem of galling during pressing.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
