Objective The aim of this research is to determine the process conditions for a neutral electrolytic finishing treatment (TEF) to be installed at the end of a continuous annealing line, taking advantage of previous experience at the CSM (7210-KB/409) and at the CRM (the HOWAQ process). The advantages should be that the neutral process produces stable non-rusting surfaces, while its rate of surface attack can be adjusted to strip velocity merely by varying the applied current density, thus achieving constant surface quality with uniform reactivity.
