Objective

The research will be concerned with a study of the fracture behaviour of welded high strength steels to enable steel users and fabricators to better exploit the economic advantages offered by these steels. The work will include generating test data on micro-alloyed steel weldments produced under different welding conditions and after different steel heat treatments. This work will be undertaken in close collaboration with projects P2336, P2346 and P2470 contained in this programme.
