Monitoring the reduction in toughness of 9-12% Cr-steels during continued use at high temperatures

Objective

After 12% Cr steels have been in service for a long time at elevated temperatures a loss of toughness has been observed, probably as a result of slow grain-boundary segregation of the phosphor. It is planned to use AUGER electron spectrometry to investigate Cr, CrMo and CrMoV steels so as to determine this effect on materials after long-time tests or long periods in service. The kinetics and equilibria of phosphor grain-boundary segregation in 12% CrMoV steel, the influence of phosphor content and alloying elements, the duration of exposure and temperature are to be investigated.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
