Toughening of a modified 9Cr-1Mo steel for practical use at 600°C

Objective

The research will be carried out on two large industrially produced melts. Different melting processes will be used. Both melts will be used to produce tubes of various dimensions. An important factor will be research on welding behaviour. Homogeneous weld connections will be made with weld metal of the same type and with an nickel-base weld metal. Heterogeneous welds will be made between 2 1/4 CR - 1Mo and 9 Cr-1 Mo steels. Another important point in the programme will be research on susceptibility to stress corrosion after various types of heat stressing.
