Objective
This research project has two aims: to investigate microstructural changes occurring during hot working of austenitic-ferritic stainless steel and also to determine the degree to which process variables influence those changes and the hot workability of duplex stainless steel. The work will be carried out on a 22 Cr - 5 Ni duplex alloy austenitic- ferritic steel, using austenitic stainless AISI 304 as a control material. Hot rolling parameters will be simulated under precise control by a laboratory thermal/mechanical cycles simulator.
