Factors influencing the continuous hot galvanizing process for steel strip

Objective

This research project will investigate inherent differences in strip surface condition between the modified Sendzimir process using direct-fired non-oxidizing furnaces and more modern radiation-type tubular furnace strip annealing processes. In the latter process mill residues are first removed by an alkaline, electrolytic cleaning section. Extensive investigation of factors influencing surface wettability and bonding will be carried out in order to improve cleaning methods and evaluate their effects under industrial conditions.
