Objective
In this research, it is intended to investigate the mechanisms needed to achieve reasonable ductility in sheet steels with minimum tensile strengths in the range from 800 MPa to 1400 MPa. The steels are likely to be based on bainitic structures with additional phases such as martensite and retained austenite. Their application would be to improve safety aspects of the next generation of autobody designs, providing extra strength to resist deformation in crash situations.
