Objective
It is intended to prove that light weight automotive construction is feasible using steel by investigating the application of modern micro-alloyed steels, dual-phase steels and bake-hardening steels in terms of shaping, joining and tailored blanking, by improving the torsional stiffness of body-in-white structures through the use of hybrid continuous joints, by developing weldable organic preprimer coated sheet and through an in-depth evaluation of the concept of welded tailored blanks.
