Objective

An experimental study of the failure behaviour of girth welds containing natural defects in high yield strength X70 linepipe steels shall be undertaken, aimed at improving safety of such products in respect to the environment. The importance of weld metal matching in such steels shall be investigated, and data shall be derived, which will serve as a basis for recommendations for their use, particularly in larger diameter applications.
