Objective The objective of this project is the development of a system for real-time detection and correction of defects in strip rolling facilities. In particular, the system will be focused on defects due to refrigeration failures in the rolls and on failures due to the improper setting of set-point forces in the stands of the mill. A high-speed thermographic line-scan sensor will be installed and its linear-infrared images will be correlated with other signals of the mill. The images will then be analysed, applying pattern recognition techniques, to detect and isolate the failures and their causes generating the proper correction signals.
