Objectif

The objective of the project is to increase the use of waste products (slag and spent refractory) as flux material in the electric arc furnace process. Different ways of recycling will be investigated with the aim to improve the internal material recycling both for the carbon and stainless steel production. A decrease in the amount of wastes obtained from steel-making and a general improvement of the electric arc furnace metallurgy is expected. By reducing the cost for raw materials and decreasing the amount of wastes to be stored at dumped sites, economical and environmental benefits are expected.
