Objective
Strain-induced precipitation plays a crucial role in grain refinement. The complex physical processes, which govern the kinetics, are not well understood, the experimental results found in the literature are often conflicting and current physical models are incapable of predicting the precipitation state. The project aims to study strain-induced precipitations by making use of the latest state of the art hot-rolling simulations and newly developed precipitation characterisation methods. The work will focus on the precipitation of microralloying elements in strip steels (interstitial free), low carbon (<150ppm), HSLA and DP/TRIP grades.
