Objective
Duplex stainless steels are very attractive materials for many industrial applications because of their unique combination of high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However there are limitations in the thermal cycles to be supported by these materials due to embrittlement resulting from several forms of precipitation. The objective of this research, based on an extensive experimental program, is to define for each family of duplex stainless steels, acceptable heating conditions. A second objective linked to the first one is to study possible stress relief treatment for duplex stainless steels.
