Low volatile organic compound coatings for corrosion protection of steel structures

Objective

In 1999 the EU ratified a directive to limit the emission of volatile organic compound due to the use of solvent-borne coatings in painting shops. The project aims at assessing the properties of newly developed environmental-friendly coatings such as water-borne and high solids coatings. The extended use of these new coatings on steel structures requires a better evaluation of their applicability, of their anticorrosion performance on different substrates and of their sensitivity to the surface preparation. The ultimate goal of the project is to defend the position of steel as an ecological solution for engineering structures, while maintaining the same performance standards and still fulfilling stringent environmental requirements.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
