Objectif Three point bending tests will be used in this research project in order to establish methods of determining the maximum bearing capacity and rotation capacity of hollow section beams, with and without axial loading as a function of loading, dimensions and strength of the material. Investigation has shown that the b/t ratios specified in various codes are based solely on the yield strength. This research will determine whether the conservative conditions adopted for I sections have also to be applied in the case of hollow section beams.
