Objective
The development of suitable structures to support large span roofs is restricted by the lack of data on the behaviour of welded assemblies and their fabrication costs. To defend and further develop these types of structures against alternative solutions (concrete, pre-stressed-concrete, wood, aluminium), this research aims to establish a calculation method based upon experimental data to optimise the performance/fabrication cost ratio.
