Development of new steel guardrails for traffic barriers

Objective

The aim of this research is to apply new steel grades and new designs in the manufacture of steel road barriers and, thereby, recover market share. The anticipated results should show that this new generation of guardrails will be able to withstand heavier loading on roads and highways. The study will include an evaluation of longitudinal and vertical elements as well as of the foundations and joining techniques.
