Objective
The aim of this research is to check, by means of a series of buckling test with eccentric loads, the behaviour of HD type solid columns (thickness range above 40 mm) and to compare the results obtained with the requirements currently laid down by Eurocode N°3. The objective pursued is to improve the rules proposed in Eurocode N°3 in order the enable designers to make full use of the actual resistance to lateral pressure under eccentric loads of solid steel columns, by investigating a specific area of the construction rules that has not so far been checked by means of actual test. The results of the tests will be compared with those obtained by the Ceficoss simulation program.
