Objective
Discussions with architects, designers, manufacturers, fabricators and technical experts within the European Community on the use of structural hollow sections and, in particular, on tubular connections have demonstrated a unanimous agreement for guidance on the design and exploitation of multi- planar connections.
This phase 1 project will prepare and report on: - the technical and economic use of multi planar connections for structural hollow sections as currently being used by; industry; - the future potential of structural hollow sections in construction based on the assumption that a design guide on multi-planar connections was available. Although not giving new guidance, this document will detail past and current practice used for multi-planar connection design, and will provide useful background documents not previously available.
