Stress corrosion and fracture of low alloy steels

Objective

The aims of this project are to: - determine the stress corrosion cracking behaviour of various steels providing, after heat- treatment, a range of microstructures; - study the phenomena of corrosion cracking and the diffusion and trapping of hydrogen; - establish correlations from these data and using analytical techniques (finite element) simulate the experimental results; - develop a computer model for these phenomena.
