Objective
The aim of the project is to investigate, on a laboratory scale, the direct casting of steel strip on a horizontal belt type pilot machine with an upper roll. The capacity of the machine will accept 500 kg heat sizes in order to allow sufficiently stable casting conditions to produce 5-10 mm thick, 250 mm wide strips. In parallel, the engineering study of an experimental casting/rolling plant will be carried on.
