Objective
The ultimate aim of the partners in this project, the Danish Steelworks Ltd and Mannesmann Demag Hüttentechnik, is to build and operate a pilot plant for the manufacture of round steel billet in a horizontal and continuously operating spray deposition installation. The aim of this feasibility-study is to establish the engineering and metallurgical basis for the construction and the operation of a pilot scale plant. The basic technology is an European development and already exists as a batch operation with a 1.2 ton capacity. The challenge to further progress is to scale-up the operation to 5 to 10 tons operating continuously.
