Objective The project aims to construct and commission an integrated pilot plant consisting of a thin slab continuous caster of Mannesmann Röhrenwerke design linked to an induction furnace and a coiler. The main original feature of the plant consists of a progressive reduction of thickness in the caster from 60 mm in the oscillating mould down to 35 mm by progressive reduction in the curved part of the installation. A further reduction from 35 mm down to 15 mm will then be achieved by rolling at the straightening withdrawal stage. At the outlet speed of about 15m/min, the temperature of the hot slab will be raised 100 to 150 °C by induction coils before entering a coil box for subsequent hot rolling. The 1st phase is devoted to the engineering and the preparation for the start-up of the plant.
