Objective
NOx reduction in many Community pulverised coal fired Power Stations has been achieved by the retrofitting of low NOx burners which most manufactures have now developed. Pressure for further reduction of emissions means that alternative or additional technologies will have to be employed such as fuel staged burners and the application of reburning techniques. A drop tube furnace and a reburn furnace will be used to investigate the influence of the many variable affecting combustion using some seven coals and selected blends.
