EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NIGHT - TRAVELING THROUGH THE SCIENTIFIC HUB OF THE NORTH OF PORTUGAL

Periodic Reporting for period 2 - ScienceScovery (EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NIGHT - TRAVELING THROUGH THE SCIENTIFIC HUB OF THE NORTH OF PORTUGAL)

Reporting period: 2017-01-01 to 2017-11-30

"Coordinated by INOVA+, SCIENCESCOVERY aimed to offer a voyage of discovery within the Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) of the Northern Region of Portugal. This is an important and integrated approach to innovation and research, where the target audience (schools, families, citizens and researchers) were invited to a one-day of continuous interaction with researchers, to find more about the Scientific Hub of the North of Portugal. This voyage was possible thanks to SCIENCESCOVERY - a virtual metro network - where participants choose what smart specialisation areas they wish to explore.

This approach involved the audience much more than just as “a visitor"", meaning that every attendee was seen as an active participant involved in an open, informal, constructive and creative dialogue around the RIS3 priorities. Through activities that were presented as a game of discovery and wonder in the trails of science and research, combining education and entertainment, the audience improved their understanding of the important role of researchers and of the relevant changes that are taking place in the research and innovation landscape. SCIENCESCOVERY project fully achieved its objectives and the activities proved to be highly engaging, successful, entertaining, full of marvel and excitement."
