Ergonomic study of the cleaning of rail cars with a view to reducing the risk of accidents

Objective

Aims of project:

Improving the working conditions of workers engaged in the manual cleaning of cars with a view to bringing about a large reduction in the number of accidents during this work and an improvement in the quality of the products delivered.

The following procedure will be adopted for this project:

Analysis of the overall situation: workers, equipment, place, environment.
Description of tasks: workers, tools, operating procedure.
Constraints: deadlines, quality.
Arduousness, safety.
Proposed ways of bringing about improvements affecting workers and equipment.

Aims of the research:

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the factors producing bad working conditions for car cleaning operations (by means of interviews, video studies, etc.);
Making proposals to improve the opening and closing of doors and cleaning by means of pressurized water jets.
Action taken in the various departments.
