Development of an expert system for the ergonomic design of control rooms

Objective

Aims of project:

The aim of the project is to develop a tool in the form of an expert system able to deal more effectively with the ergonomic problems encountered when designing control rooms. The intended users will primarily comprise non-ergonomists, such as engineers in planning departments. The system produced can be used both for designing new control rooms and modifying existing ones.

Object of the research:

The production of the computerised tool is based on the knowledge acquired in the two German steel industry projects carried out under the Fourth Ergonomics Programme (Projects 7247/11/001 and 7247/11/002) on "The ergonomic design of control stations in the steel industry".
