Objective
1) To improve workers operating conditions, physical and mental load.
2) To improve the live cycle of the project:-
- taking into account the final users needs as soon as the conception step
- organising training, operation tests, risks prevention.
This research had for main propose the study and realization of a system including the different aspects of man/system interaction.
At the end of this research we can note some main results:
- Generality of methods.
- Leading role of analysis function.
- Scale models utilization.
- Technology transfer.
- Risk prevention.
This method allowed:
- The success of studies of relationship between man at works and tools.
- The precise definition of needs for control command system: this helps the decision for adapted technology at acceptable price.
- The continuity through the project so that final objectives are kept in mind.
- The efficient training for workers.
- The safety even in semi automatic operation.
- A low level of stress at first operation time.
- The agreement and incentive for men.
The technology and the control-command methods for industrial processes present fast evolution periods as new technological devices are used.
In steel industry, traditional human command system is replaced now by computerised control.
This evolution introduces new individual risks as well as collective ones.
It's a necessity to develop new methods including ergonomies and safety design of control command system to face these new conditions.
SOLLAC FOS decided to change the command system for their two blast furnaces during the relining operations (1991, 1993).

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
