Objective
Dust control techniques need to be intensified in order to comply with the expected reduction of current dust limit values. Since primary measures are not always sufficient, there is no alternative to increasing the use of dust collection equipment for comprehenisve cleansing of the air and at bunkers, loading and transfer points, crushers and in conjunction with dinting and loading machines. Such a wide range of operating conditons can be catered for only of the size of dedusters is reduced so that they can be employed in confined mining areas.
The key to size reduction lies in refining and improving the filter materials, by developing filter media which not only utilize the dimensions of the collector unit to maximum effect but are also resistant to water and building materials. An improved flow distribution in the separator needs to be achieved, with the aim of increasing the specific filter surface load. It is also planned to optimize the regenerative capacity and cleaning methods.
Measuring equipment will be developed for continuous monitoring of volume flow rate, pressure drop and clean air concentration in filters.
The dust removal and disposal equipment is to be optimized in order to facilitate maintenance, thus increasing reliability and acceptance.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
