New portable multi-sensor scientific instrument for non-invasive on-site characterisation of rock from planetary surface and sub-surfaces

Deliverables

Updated requirements and objectives for short-term scenarios

This deliverable will report the updated technical specifications required for the operation of the system in rover-based exploration missions in the short term.

Preliminary design report for the electronic control block

This deliverable will report the preliminary design of the electronic control block. D3.2 will be based on a breadboard (not deliverable).

Final design and validation report for the power distribution block

This deliverable will report the final design and validation of the power distribution block.

Calibration and functional verification

This deliverable will report the functional verification in the laboratory of the three multi-sensor prototypes. Verification matrixes will be included according to the achieved results and the objectives identified in WP2.

Updated requirements and objectives for long-term scenarios

This report will describe the updated technical specifications required for the operation of the system in on board base stations in mid-term exploration missions

Project final report summary

This report is a summary report of the final report.

System Integration report

This deliverable will report the integration of the three prototypes developed in NEWTON project.

Performance validation for future planetary exploration missions

This deliverable will report on the complementarity and usefulness of the instrument for a mineralogical and geological characterization planetary analogues.

Capabilities for civil engineering applications

Two case studies with high resolution on ground mapping and magnetic characterization of rock cores from drilling at the same sites should document the NEWTON potential for applied geological topics.

Multi-sensor instrument validation

The validation includes a comparison of the obtained multiple magnetic properties of the mapped crustal rocks from different sites with all available mineralogical and geological data from these sites. This should document the potential of our new geophysical tool to determine rock compositions.

First project period report summary

This report is a summary report of the first project period.

Definition of instrument requirements and architecture. Design guidelines

This report will include the initial system requirements and architecture definition, as well as the initial interfaces of the different prototypes (three prototypes) developed in the project. The document will also include the description of the different key building blocks which integrate the overall system and their inputs/outputs.

Final design and validation report for the electronic control block

This deliverable will report the final design and validation of the electronic control block

Preliminary design report for the magnetic head

This deliverable will report the preliminary design of the magnetic head. D3.1 will be based on a breadboard (not deliverable).

Second Project period report summary

This report is a summary report of the second project period.

Preliminary design report for the power distribution block

This deliverable will report the preliminary design of the power distribution block. D3.3 will be based on a breadboard (not deliverable).

Final design and validation report for the magnetic head

This deliverable will report the final design and validation of the magnetic head.

NEWTON website

The project website will provide detailed information about the project objectives and activities. It will consist of two parts: a public part and a private part: The public part will be opened to the general readership and it will be regularly updated with the latest activities within the project. It will also include access to the public deliverables of NEWTON project. The private part of the website will be only accessible to the members of the consortium and will be protected by password. This private part will have access to all NEWTON deliverables and milestones, contact information to facilitate the communication among consortium partners as well as access to the information sharing tools employed during the project. The website will be created and maintained by the Project Coordinator, with the support from all the partners.
