Naturbo, the first air purification technology using a patented process of biotransformation to transform bad indoor air into healthy, fresh, and natural air.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Naturbo (Naturbo, the first air purification technology using a patented process of biotransformation to transform bad indoor air into healthy, fresh, and natural air.)

Reporting period: 2016-09-01 to 2016-12-31

Modern European citizens spend - in average - over 90% of their time indoors. This includes homes, offices, restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and other public buildings such as schools and hospitals. A good indoor environment is therefore important to public health. In fact, most of our exposure to environmental pollutants occurs by breathing the air indoors. These pollutants come from activities, products and materials we use every day. The air in our homes, schools and offices can be 2 to 5 times more polluted, and in some cases, 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) estimates that the average person receives 72 percent of their chemical exposure at home, which means the very places most people consider safest paradoxically exposes them to the greatest amounts of potentially hazardous pollutants.
To address this health issue, Naava created a unique green wall – a biological indoor air purifier that makes the indoors ideal for human health. Naava’s smart green wall technology cleans the air of chemicals, mould and particles with unparalleled efficiency, while naturally adjusting humidity to be optimal. A single plant in the Naava wall purifies indoor air over a hundred times more efficiently than a single house plant – and each plant wall features dozens of plants. Studies at the Eastern University of Finland have shown that Naava’s technology is around 129 times as efficient as a normal green wall .
During the feasibility assessment, Naava completed a full analysis of the technical and business potential of the Naava green walls. The company has expanded their knowledge of the market, with a particular focus on the European market.
Within the Phase 1 project, the company clarified the objectives of the future development (improve the overall AI of the green wall and achieve compliance with the WELL Building Standard) and outlined a detailed product development plan. At the same time, the company drafted a plan to ensure manufacturing scale-up at European and global level.
This will put the company in a strong position, as currently available IAQ technologies lack of the appeal, efficiency and the smart control features integral to the Naava products. Being able to manufacture and ship Naava gree walls all over Europe will make Naava the EU market leader and pave the way for a successful market uptake in other regions.
Naava is the world’s smartest green wall air purification system. Compared to green walls currently on the market, each plant in Naava systems is a 100 times the efficiency. This is the result of a comprehensive multi-year R&D study based on a study by NASA. NASA's research on how to clean air in space stations factors heavily into Naava active green wall. Moreover, in Naava soil is not needed as the plants are grown using a combination of hydro- and aeroponics. Representing true smart technology the Naava green walls are monitored and controlled remotely at all times.
